Remote enough that the armor stops mattering.
In Alaska the distance is the design. Teams fly into Anchorage, then out by float plane to a wilderness lodge with no road to it. Summer days are long, the country is vast, and a team that arrived immaculate ends up wading, fishing and talking around a fire. Comfort is never far away. The office is.
This is a place, not the product. If Alaska serves your outcome, few settings strip away pretense faster. If the travel is more than the outcome needs, we will tell you and suggest somewhere closer.
A moment where polish stops mattering does what years of coaching could not.
A fly-in lodge with no road to it puts real distance between the team and the office.
Days of fishing, hiking and long conversations become the relationships that last.
The practical details.
When to go
Most fly-in wilderness lodges run roughly June to September, with very long summer days. Outside that window the options narrow sharply.
Getting there
Fly into Anchorage (ANC), which has nonstop flights from Seattle and seasonal nonstops from other US hubs. From there, a float plane or bush plane to the lodge.
How long
Five days. Getting in and out takes time, and the place rewards staying.
Where you stay
A five-star wilderness lodge reached only by air, with guides for fishing, hiking and the backcountry.
A sample five-day shape
A starting point. Every retreat is built around your one outcome.
Day 1
Arrive
Land in Anchorage, settle in, and the framing conversation over dinner.
Day 2
Fly in
A float plane into the backcountry, with a day designed around the outcome before anyone reaches the lodge.
Day 3
The backcountry
A guided day of fishing or hiking, with the hard conversations built around it.
Day 4
Together
A slower day at the lodge to let what happened turn into how the team wants to work.
Day 5
Decide
A morning session to turn the week into commitments, then the flight back to Anchorage.
What it costs
Every retreat here follows our three tiers: Focused $35,000–$50,000, Signature $45,000–$150,000 and Bespoke $75,000 and up, turnkey for a team of roughly 5 to 12 and exclusive of air travel. Alaska retreats usually sit in the Bespoke range, because float plane charters and remote lodges carry the cost. What moves the number here: lodge rates, air charters and private guiding. See what an executive retreat costs and the three tiers.
Straight answers
Can you run an executive retreat in Alaska?
Yes. Alaska is where we ran one of our most powerful retreats: a Fortune 100 executive team of six, flown into Anchorage and on to a five-star wilderness lodge, with a designed stop beside a remote lake that broke years of guardedness. The case study tells the whole story.
How do we get to an Alaska wilderness lodge?
Fly into Anchorage (ANC), then take a float plane or bush plane to the lodge. Most wilderness lodges have no road access; the flight in is part of the experience.
When is the best time for a corporate retreat in Alaska?
Roughly June to September, when most fly-in lodges are open and the days are very long. Outside that window the options narrow sharply.
Is an Alaska retreat safe for executives?
Yes. Lodges provide experienced guides, and anything we design is fully controlled. In our Alaska case study the stranding was staged, with guides positioned to keep wildlife away and hidden cameras on the whole scene.
Did you measure the Alaska retreat?
No, and deliberately. Attaching a metric to relationships that personal would have made them feel like an obligation. We measure most retreats for 30 days; when measuring would damage the outcome, we put it down.
What is included in an Alaska retreat?
Design, facilitation by James Carter, the lodge, meals, guided activities, on-site coordination and transfers to and from the lodge, plus a 30-day challenge with a written day-30 report when it serves the outcome. Airfare to Anchorage is the usual exclusion. Focused and Signature retreats come with a written proposal within 72 hours.
Who an Alaska retreat is for
Private retreats for CEOs and leadership teams of roughly 5 to 12, built around one outcome. We are strongest with teams that need to work as one: teams in conflict, split into camps, or newly merged. Every retreat is turnkey, and Focused and Signature retreats come with a written proposal within 72 hours.
